First Step

Reaching out for help is a significant step, and your decision to seek support shows that change and possibility are within reach.

As a first step, please take a moment to fill out the Contact form below. I will get back to you within two business days, either with my availability or recommendations for other therapists if our schedules don't align or if I don't have any openings.

If I have availability, I’ll respond to your inquiry with a link for a complimentary 20-minute consultation. This consultation will provide an opportunity for you to share the reasons for seeking therapy and ask any questions you may have. Together, we can determine if our partnership would be beneficial.

If it turns out that we aren't the right fit, I'm more than happy to offer referrals to ensure you find the guidance you truly need.

Feel free to explore the FAQ section below for answers to common questions you might have.

Note on Availability: No current openings.

No story is too insignificant, unimportant, too broken, too late, or not worth telling.

Your story matters. It deserves to be told.

You matter. You deserve to be heard.

Questions about Therapy

  • Please fill out the Contact form, and I’ll be in touch within two business days with my availability.

If I do not have openings:

I’ll respond with referrals to clinicians who have availability.

    If I do have openings:

Therapy is based on a trusting relationship. Research has demonstrated that the most important factor for a good therapeutic outcome is the fit between client and therapist.

For that reason, we can have a 20-minute free consultation during which I would welcome listening to what brings you to seek therapy, as well as give you the opportunity to ask questions about how I work, fees, or anything else you are curious about.

From there, if you are comfortable doing so, we may go on to make an initial appointment.

If we are not a good match, I'll gladly provide referrals to other clinicians who might be a good fit.

  • Therapy is a commitment to yourself, and maintaining consistent weekly sessions is key in fostering the potential for growth and change.

I encourage the people I work with to commit to weekly sessions. This regularity is necessary to build a solid foundation, establish trust, safety, and rapport, and gain a deep understanding of your unique perspective and how best to support you.

Our sessions will typically be scheduled on a day and time that works for both of us, and that specific time slot will be exclusively reserved for you throughout our collaboration.

I remain open to addressing occasional rescheduling, especially in situations involving travel or conflicting commitments.

The frequency and reliability of weekly therapy sessions over time allow us to delve into the work more profoundly, fostering sustainable healing, growth, and restoration.

As we progress towards achieving our therapeutic goals and consider wrapping up our work together, we can transition to bi-weekly sessions. Ultimately, my hope is that you will acquire enough tools and insights to become your own most effective therapist.

  • My therapeutic approach is client-centered and collaborative, ensuring each session is tailored to your needs.

Your individual internal landscape dictates the path our therapy journey will take, and it's my responsibility to align with what best supports your progress, including the pace and techniques employed.

After the initial intake session, once we've clarified your objectives, you can typically anticipate a session structure that involves a brief check-in at the outset. This serves to help you ground yourself fully into the session or address any immediate concerns that may have arisen. You may also use this time to share any progress, insights, or inner work you've engaged in between our sessions.

Subsequently, we may pick up where we left off in the previous session or explore new topics that emerge. It's important to note that this process may not always follow a linear path, but rest assured that our focus will remain on working towards your therapeutic goals, even if our attention shifts to different areas from week to week. Your journey is unique, and our sessions will reflect that individuality.

  • This cannot be predetermined since it depends on multiple factors. For some, several months will suffice and for others it could be several years.

If for some reason you feel that the therapy has stalled and is not providing you with what you need, we can bring this into the therapeutic conversation. Therapy is an ongoing and dynamic process that requires attentiveness and consideration. Tending to that is my task, and together we can reevaluate a new direction to your therapy.

  • If you would like to get an idea of how I work, this page lets you know a bit about my approach.

I'm certified in Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS therapy), trained in Brainspotting therapy, and draw from a number of other modalities that fit my clients' needs.

Questions about Policies

  • My fee is $200 for weekly 50-minute sessions. We could plan for more than one weekly session if it's clinically appropriate.

I accept credit, debit, HSA, and FSA cards through the SimplePractice portal. Payments are processed via autopay after each session.

I offer a trauma treatment modality called Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS therapy). Many people struggling with complex relational trauma, anxiety, and depression benefit from IFS therapy. It may be beneficial to schedule longer 75-minute sessions using this framework. In this case, the fee would be prorated. As with everything else in therapy, we can determine this together at the appropriate time.

I'm a Certified Level 3 IFS therapist, and I’ve received specialized training using this modality for Shame, Anxiety, and Depression, as well as Addictions and Eating Disorders.

  • If you are unable to attend your scheduled appointment, please notify me at least 48 hours in advance.

If you do not arrive for your appointment and have not contacted me at least 48 hours in advance, you will be required to pay the full session fee.

Availability permitting, if we can reschedule the session at the time of cancellation for the same working week, the fee will be waived.

Life emergencies, such as accidents, severe illness, or family bereavements, will not be subject to late cancellation fees.

  • At the moment, all sessions are conducted online through a secure and HIPAA-compliant video conferencing platform, ensuring your confidentiality and privacy.

Even when in-person sessions become available again, I will continue offering online therapy as an option, recognizing the convenience and accessibility it offers to those who require it.

  • I do not accept insurance plans but would be happy to give you a "Superbill" that you can submit to your insurance company for partial reimbursement. A superbill is an itemized receipt that your insurance might be willing to accept, and pay a portion of the session back to you.

Not all insurance plans cover “outside of network providers.” It’s a good idea to check with your insurance company. Also, please be advised that using your insurance requires a diagnosis which becomes part of your health records.

These are some questions you can ask your provider to determine their coverage:

    • Does my plan include “Out-Of-Network” benefits for mental health care? Specifically, for outpatient psychotherapy at a psychotherapist’s office?

    • Do I have a deductible for out-of-network mental health services, and if so, what is the remaining amount I would have to pay before my health plan starts to reimburse me for any fees I pay out-of-pocket?

    • "What is the maximum amount my plan will reimburse for mental health service code 90834 with a Psychotherapist?" If the rep does not provide a clear answer, ask: "What is the maximum allowed amount for mental health service code 90834 with a psychotherapist, and what percentage of the maximum allowed amount will my plan pay?" (This percentage of the maximum allowed amount is the amount you would receive as reimbursement.)

    • Is the Out-Of-Network deductible different than the In-Network deductible?

    • Is there a limit on the number of sessions reimbursed per year?

Also, I’d like to share this article as a resource as you explore your out-of-network benefits.

  • The No Surprises Act, a federal law effective from January 1, 2022, grants you the entitlement to a "Good Faith Estimate," elucidating the anticipated costs of your medical and mental health care. This law mandates healthcare providers to furnish uninsured patients or those not utilizing insurance with an estimate of expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy.

You possess the right to request a Good Faith Estimate detailing the projected total cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy, from your healthcare provider or any alternative provider before scheduling a service.

Should you receive a bill surpassing your Good Faith Estimate by at least $400, you have the right to dispute the bill. It is advisable to retain a copy or image of your Good Faith Estimate. For additional information or inquiries about your entitlement to a Good Faith Estimate, you can visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

The estimate provided covers the cost of services until the conclusion of the calendar year in which you commence therapy. It's important to note that a Good Faith Estimate does not constitute a contract, a treatment recommendation, or a prediction regarding the necessity for a specific number of psychotherapy visits. The appropriateness of the number of visits and their estimated cost depends on your individual needs and agreements made in consultation with your therapist.

Feel free to discuss queries about your collaborative treatment plan or the information provided in the Good Faith Estimate with me anytime. You retain the option to discontinue treatment at any point. A new Good Faith Estimate will be provided at the commencement of each new calendar year, covering a maximum period of 12 months.

  • As an Opted-Out provider, I'm not in contract with Medicare, and they won't cover the cost of my services. If you're a Medicare beneficiary and interested in therapy with me, we can work together to set up a private contract for your treatment.
